I was hoping for more of a reference book on gemstones. Something more scientific, with stone characteristics and identification tips, photos, etc. This has no photos and tends to lean more torward crystals, stories, and healing properties. The "look inside" feature wasn't available when I made my purchase, but it's there now and it gives you a pretty good idea of what you'll get.
