Lancaster County Second Chances (6 books boxed) by Ruth Price: This box of books are really awesome you can get each one by its self but it is much better getting the box because then you have all the stories right there one after another an you will not lose time having to go an get them one at a time, I was so happy when I was reading these stories that they fell right into the next one. Once you start the first book you will be hooked and you will continue until you get the last page and I mean the very last page that will give you some more books to get, Ruth is such as writer that grabs you mind with her words and they hang on like glue, that is why I am asking you get this set of books because I know if you are a true reader of the Amish it is going to get to your mind to find more books. Please I am begging you to send a message to the author because they really do need to know that you love their work and then also make a review letting others know about this set, please enjoy like I have.
Only giving it two stars, because it contains swear words, takes the LORD's name in vain and other reasons. I do not expect to read this Author's books again. Forgive me if I am wrong. But I took this to be Christian fiction. In my opinion there is no place for swear words or taking the LORD's name in vain in Christian books.
What a great bundle of books. I loved every single one. If you are looking for a good read this is a great bundle to read. From the first page to the last you won't want to put it down. The only bad thing was, I hated to see it end. Great author, I will definitely be reading more of her work.
I've read several of Ruth Price' s books. This has been the best so far. The characters are likeable and their personalities develop with each book. I looked forward to seeing the interactions between the Amish families. It was interesting to read about the differences in rumpspringa.
I read the entire series without much of a break. I had read at least one other Ruth Price book and enjoyed her skill. I will no doubt read more, in the future.
I very much enjoyed this set, my only comment / criticism is that I did not really feel this was 6/7 different books. It does beautifully portray Amish life within a community, developing characters, watching them grow and change, challenges with the 'English' and how the Amish have many of the same struggles that anyone else does, curiosity about the outside world, temptations and anger. Very well written.
I like the way Ruth Price depicts the interconnections of lives in a small community. Lives are deeply connected , esp. in small communities. This factor makes the story more believable. The 4 stars instead of 5 was due to some sleeping errors such as Fanny and Fannie used for the same person in almost sequential paragraphs.
I loved this series. It was great from the first page till the last page. I really hated to see the series end. I would love to see more books added to this series. This is a Must read series. Ruth Price did an excellent job when writting this. I am looking forward to reading more of her books.
