Good for middle school New Comers. Too low for intermediate middle school ESL learners.

This workbook is a very useful and solid complement to the book. I have been using it as the foundation for an ESL science course.

I love this text because of the simple, straight forward explanations and great illustrations for complex concepts. I use it daily with my ELL students to support and further explain what they are learning in their science class.

This has proven to be an invaluable resource for me as an ESL teacher. It allows my students to follow along with content covered in their grade-level content areas. They participate in class with their native English-speaking peers, and do all/most of their outside book work using this book rather than the grade-level text.When choosing objectives for those students whose work/assessment load is reduced due to language/literacy level, the Access Science book is a good guide - it covers grade-level-appropriate material, but cuts it down to the basics. For most units, what is covered in here is what the content-area teacher deems "basic and necessary."The book also integrates language instruction into each unit, though I haven't used these features as much due to our service model.Overall... a good choice for guiding English Language Learners through the increasingly tricky content of middle school English.
